A photo from Andrei Vlasov's execution
A photo from Andrei Vlasov's execution
I found this photo in the web (http://www.vho.org/VffG/2000/1/Kovacs76-80.html). The text claim that this photo was taked by the NKVD/KGB.
Vlasov is at the right, but who are the others?

Rodrigo -- When Soviet authorities announced Vlasov's execution on 2 Aug 1946, they listed the names of 7 other Russian Liberation Army (Russkaya Osvoboditelnaya Armiya - ROA) officers who were hanged at the same time:
Buniachenko or Bunyachenko or Bunishenkov, Sergei K.
Korbukov, W.D.
Malyshkin, Vassily F.
Shatov, N.S.
Shilenkov, G.N.
Sverev. G.A.
Trukhin, F.I.
The photograph you posted probably shows two of those fellows.

The method of hanging appears particularly primitive. Obviously they were not dropped through a trapdoor.
The victims must be hanging from a beam above the top of the photo. The nooses are not visible, so not the customary rope - piano wire?
Whatever the case, the NKVD obviously wanted to make the execution as brutal as possible.

The West certainly has a lot to answer for over the question of the so called repatriation of those who fought for the Axis back to Russia. Most joined Vaslov to escape Hitlers camps and from a belief that Russia could be freed from the butcher Stalin. I hope both Stalin and Hitler burn in hell for the suffering they gave the people of Europe.

Don't forget the cowardly role that Sweden played in the forced repatriation of Don cossacks.

Hello Max
Correction. It's not Generalmajor Schilenkov but General F.I. Trukhin as Semenov has mentioned above

Re: A photo from Andrei Vlasov's execution
The left one is Malyshkin or Bunyachenko.
Re: A photo from Andrei Vlasov's execution
I see this photo top of post of Vlasov being executed, I could only find one referance that he was beheaded afterwards and his head was placed on a pole? I am not sure if this statement was true or where his head was displayed and what happened to it afterwards? Do we know of any other men of the ROA being executed or if there is a site in Russian that covers their last words and execution more in detail? I see Major General Mikhail Bogdanov, Major General Aleksandr Budykho, Major General Andrei Naumov dying on the same day 19.04.1950 where they executed? Also Major General Pavel Bogdanov on 25.04.1950?
Re:
I can see ropes clearly above the two men on the left. They are of substantial thickness and are also visible in other photographs I have seen of Vlasov's execution. I think that piano wire speculation is not credible. The same was suggested for the 8 Hitler assassination attempt conspirators who were hanged in Plotzensee prison. A thin cord was used, but no piano wire.michael mills wrote:The method of hanging appears particularly primitive. Obviously they were not dropped through a trapdoor.
