Hi!

Visually there certainly is a good resemblance to Hintze, but what would the SSPF Litauen be doing in Estonia? Is there anything in his bio that could place him in Estonia around Feb/Mar/April 1944?
Mike's suggestion of Möller as SSPF Estland bears thinking about from that aspect, though there appears to be very little facial resemblance.

Best regards,

VJK, joining Oberstab in his meditations.

Dear VJK,
in spring 1944 Hintze was temporally deputy of the "HSSPF Ostland und Russland-Süd", SS-Obergruppenführer Friedrich Jeckeln.
This could explain (a little bit) our confusion.

Dieter~

Wouldn't that be "Rußland-NORD" vs. "-Süd"?

I agree, Hintze has a similar appearance, however my information from Andreas does not indicate he received the 1939 Eisernes Kreuz II. Klasse (which our mystery Brigf. wears in VJK's photo).

Thank you everyone for your learned input. I bow without hesitation to your collective deliberations that our mystery man is indeed Hintze.

Best regards,

VJK

Still not convinced, unless it comes to light that Hintze indeed received the 1939 EK II. If you look at the photo, that's clearly a light-colored stripe (i.e.- red) at center with dark on the outer edge. If it was the KVK ribbon, it would be exactly the opposite (middle stripe would be dark).
