The only bit of info I have seen is from "Partisan warfare 1941-45" , Nigel Thomas , that mentions - in 1942 the SD organised Crimean Tartars into
8 highly effective "Tartar self defence companies" for anti partisan operations in the Crimea. Nothing about uniforms or insignia.
Ranjit.

According to the newspaper Idel-Ural, 21 Jul 2015 Bundesarchiv Bild 146-1981-059-12 photo shows parade of Tatar Legion in front of Gen. von Heigendorf. Newspaper is in Tatar language, but not in Crimean Tatar, which apparently is quite different. Anyway Idel-Ural seemed to use only Tatar Legion or Terek-tatar Legion name, never Crimean one.
In 1943 commander of Tatar Legion was Major von Seckendorf.
Lot's of photos (low quality) by Uffz. Philipps; and tons of info like names of companies commanders, speeches, etc.
