Hi Roman,

I was too busy at work lately but I am downing rolls/info about the X.AK at this very moment. I am going through those first before getting back to the WASt if necessary. Keep you informed.

Hi Corneel,

Have you allready visited the National Archives (www.gahetna.nl) or sent a request to the Dutch Red Cross.

By the way: was your uncle born in Gorinchem?

Best wishes Bram

Dear contributors,

After a short break, because I got stuck in almost every direction I searched, it was about time to give it another chance. I found the location of Zarini (it is a quite common name for a house or farmhouse in Latvia) It is to be found in the triangle Kaleti, Purmsati and Gramzda and is visible on old maps.

I also found out that my uncles best friend who is also m.i.a. but reported in november in another place, is missed in the same area on the same day!!

They were under command of 9.SS Denmark reg 24 or 4. SS.brig. NDL, in its Bewährungs Kp. Any news is welcome!!

ps the info DRK used on the vermisstenbildliste about mentioned FPN's 12607 and 48547 seems to be wrong!

Finally we also received a reply from the VDK but complete with new info AND a dogtag / EKM number!! Again they report MIA @ Zarini/Lettland d.d. 16.10.1944. He was under command of the 9. Kompanie SS Panzer Grenadier Regiment 24.

His EKM reported as: -1570- Pz. Abt. d W. SS

Are there any members here with listings of these EKM's and their holders? I'd like to have some kind of extra evidence after being misleaded* by the WASt and DRK.
(*no offense considering the difficult job these organisations like the WASt and DRK had ánd still have in providing answers to all those involved families!)
Ofcourse any other info about the 9. Kompanie SS Panzer Grenadier Regiment 24 around 16.10.1944 is more than welcome!!

Thanks in advance.. kind regards,

Corneel
