Hauptscharführer Arnolds Martins

Information from research shows that Arnolds MARTINS had the rank of Hauptscharführer in the SS-Sammst.Art (Waffen SS) when he was called-up (not enlisted) for service on August 23, 1944 in Latvia. He was born on 10 Dec 1914.

Two questions, is it normal for someone to be given this rank on call up and is there a way to find out if he was in the 15. SS-Division (1st Latvian) or was in the 19. SS-Division (2nd Latvian).

There is also no record on his death through WASt
