Can't find anyone by that name earning the Knight's Cross in the reference material. Are you sure about the name, award etc.?

Cheers,

Hans

I'm sceptic but there's a picture of him in H.W. Neulen's book (An deutscher Seite) where he is also listed as a recipent.

Peter Renold
* 06.06.1924 in Wollishofen/Kanton Zürich.
+ 13.04.1995
Renold joins the Waffen SS in November 1941. He was transferred to the Brandenburgers during 1942-43, and takes part in 16 actions behind the Russian front. After returns to the Waffen SS (SS-Fallschirmjäger Btl.500) he takes part in the attack on Tito's HQ in May 1944 (Operation Rösselsprung). At the end of the war Renold was transferred to the SS-Panzergrenadier Rgt.5 (3.SS-Panzer Division "Totenkopf"). As a member of this unit he earns a nickname, "Panzerbubbi", and after destroying 9 tanks received Ritterkreuz on 6 May 1945. There is a picture of him with the KC in the Neulen's book "An der deutsche Seite".

Regards
Jacek

By the way, the fact about Renold is based on his story published in Der Freiwillige in the seventies.

I thought that Peter Renold was a fake RKT, and that the photo of him wearing the RK was a fake post war doctored photo! Is he a RKT 100%?

Phil :)
