Hi,

Can anyone tell me whether there was ever such a unit, manned by Greeks in the SS. If so what was it called?

Cheers.

Here is a reply a think will suit you.

Well the Greek Government of Ioannis Rallis raised in 1943, with aid of Higher SS and Police leader Griechenland, Greek Security Battalions (You can read about it on this site under Collaboration and Far-Right Parties then Greece, pretty good job by Marcus Wendel). Here it is by the way:http://www.axishistory.com/index.php?id=83

I am still looking. The problem is a lot of information is kept secret by the powers that be in Greece and its a shame. History should not be hidden but revealed.

Sorry, those are Lee-Enfields on picture 2?

Where did they come from? Did the Greek army use them prior to the war?
