Interesting text, unaltered after BING German/English machine translation. Is it understandable? Google machine translator for English/ German is worse. Microsoft/Bing for this application performs better. If the text below can be understood it could become a useful tool. I cannot give an opinion because I have the German original text and therefore "understand" the translated version, even if it does not make any sense at all.

As required by an other member, a better photo of some Charlemagne volunteers embarking a truck:



As far as I know, that photo doesn't show volunteers heading to Berlin. It was taken in Pomerania and shows Panzerschreck. The French volunteers who reached Berlin with Krukenberg and Fenet in april 1945 had only Panzerfaust.

Photo was taken in Pyritz in Februar 1945 (now Pyrzyce in Poland).

Hello to all,

For my first participation on AHF, I allow to bring a precision on this image. Indeed, it is not about an image of 33. W-Gren. Div der SS "Charlemagne" (franz. Nr.1), but of 4. SS-Polizei division ! You can have the confirmation of it by reading the article " Charlemagne meurt sur l'Oder " of Eric Lefèvre in the french magazine "Batailles N°6".

Wasn't Paul Briffault a Oberleutnant of the LVF? The Bad-Reichenhall pictures showed him wearing a Heer officer uniform (the Litzen collar patch was visible)

Noone know hy exactly he wear Heer uniform.

But he was for sure transfer to W-SS .
