That was my first thought, but I couldn't remember him ever wearing a mustache. Oh well, I still think you are right, Steen.

I've had some of these sitting around for years so I thought I would see if anybody can recognise them. Most are US generals who were serving in ETO between 1944 and 1946. There are one or two very minor clues on some of them which may or may nor help.
So here goes.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Regards
Ian

I have another general to identify, the picture has no information so I had to work on it and I have found that the picture was taken in Iwo Jima (1944?) he has the emblem of the 3d Marine Division, he was a Brigadier General, and in another photo from the same serie I've identified Major General Graves B. Erskine (so he was under his command)

Major General Graves B. Erskine:

I've been working on MacArthur's picture and I've found that the officer in the left is Vice Admiral Arthur D. Struble:

and the officer in the right could be Brigadier General Courtney Whitney:

Duchamp,

Regarding your picture of the Marine BGen, can't be taken on Iwo Jima as there are trees in the background. Two possible candidates: BGen Alfred H. Noble, Assistant Division Commander, 3rd Marine Division during Guam campaign or BGen William E. Riley, who may have been ADC late 1945 (he took command of 3rd Mar Div from Erskine when war was over). I can't find any official reference on who was ADC, 3rd MarDiv during Iwo Jima campaign. Only picture I can find is of Noble and not much detail, but some resemblence. Not sure this helps much!
