Unknown USN Commander

Hi,

A number of years ago (2003), I purchased on e-Bay a WWII-era USN Commander's uniform. It seems that it had been in a museum on the US East coast and with the closure of the museum its inventory was being liquidated. Unfortunately, neither the museum nor the identity of the Commander were provided on e-Bay. I would be very interested in identifying this officer, and perhaps a listing of his medals might help:

Bronze Star with Combat V
American Defense Medal
American Campaign Medal
Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal (with star)
WWII Victory Medal
WWII Navy Occupation Service Medal

The Bronze Star was only introduced in 1944, and the combat "V" serves to further narrow the potential list of recipients; is there a database somewhere that could help to identify this officer?

Thanks,

AJK
