Baku Naval Aviation School

Postby South on 07 Jun 2012 08:40

Good morning all,

Preface: My question relates to Russia's inter-war era and aware the Great War Part I offers overlap dates.

Re: Baku Naval Aviation School;

Was this school an element of the new Soviet government or still loyal to the Czarist/Imperial political establishment?

I admit to my difficulty in assembling the too numerous of facts for me to figure out what was going on.

I know there were foreign armies in Russian territory post Brest-Litovsk March 1918 but am cloudy in re any Ottoman-loyal or Turkish troops in the employ of new regional political establishments such as the Trans-Caucasian Democratic Federative Republic and the British Dunsterforce.

Again, seeking the political affiliation of the Baku Naval Aviation School.

......

After reading about the Seym and the Bolshevik Baku Commune I now know why many have difficulty understanding America's Civil War. It's all fatiguing, to say the least !

Thanks in advance.

Warm regards,

Bob

Hello Bob
Not sure if you have seen this article:
http://www.azer.com/aiweb/categories/ma ... lanes.html
but the following excerpt:
Unfortunately, the disturbances and disorder brought on by the Russia Revolution in 1917, tragically interrupted the traditions established of this first Naval Aviation Officer's School. The institution was short-lived (1915-1917) and its history consigned to oblivion during the Soviet Period.

would lead me to conclude the School's loyalties lay with the Czarist/White forces.
Perhaps another forum member can expand on this.
Cheers
Mark
