i hope some of you can help me out ! i am QM navy speacial ops . i am trying to find pictures of the 1927 white bird engine ... as many pictures and details as i can find ..
a few years ago i was hunting in stlawrnce county new york . miles from the nearest road . i set down to rest and noted the dirt mond i was setting on was a engine of some kind i had not seen before ...
after some hard work i take note that the white bird may not have changed corse at belle Isle and remained on its acr of heading and made a crash landing 1080 mile from belle Isle and did not make the 1100 mile trip to new york city .. IMHO he was trying to land on lake ontario and misteakenly thaught black lake was lake ontario . after trying to land and finding out it was not lake ontario i beleive he tryed to circle to try to make a secound landing , he never made the full circle ...
so i am trying to relocate the engine and id it .. is this the white bird . i do not know yet . but yes it could be ....
so if any of you have picture of the white bird's engine i would very much like to see them for my research to ID the engine i found ...
after some search i found that one of the white bird's landing site was in fact Quebec ,,...i find it funny that if the white bird was spoted over northern maine this can only mean the white bird did not turn south to Ny.. after reading the reports that came in i noted that the flight had been reported to crash in 3 diffrent places . it's just a theory but IMHO they were dumping weight to lighten the load to make a landing at lake ontario..this would explan the 3 diffrent times people beleive they herd the plane crash ...
i will be looking for other sightings of a plane on may 9th in the northern new york area of st lawrnce county....
i beleive they knew there was heavy fog and tryed to make it to lake ontario because of its size ,giveing them the best chance for a safe landing ...
if i am right this would explan why they herd the plane over the north eastern part of maine . i was Quarter master halmsmen in the navy . you see 22-25 mile to the horizon...this would make me think he was keeping the st lawrnce river 20 miles off his starboard side make the planes path 20 south of the st lawrnce and running parallel with the river , this would let him spot the river easy threw the right side windows of the plane . if he flew over the river it would make it hard to spot ..
so logic would tell us he kept 20-22 miles south of the st lawrnce river...that funny thats how far away the engine i found is from the st lawrnce river ......i will keep looking ... i guess we could make a judgement of how much weight they could throw out of the plane and then see how far that would get them . we know that logic says they made it to northern maine . so some where bettwen a point 20-22 miles south of the st lawrnce river over north eastern maine to lake ontario is where this plane crashed ...
