A question on the Jaegers and the MV Libauskiy

#31

Post by CanKiwi2 » 26 Feb 2014, 13:33

Someone mentioned to me offline that in Spring 1918 the last of the Finnish Jaegers in Libau (Latvia) hijacked the lightship <V Liabuskij from Liepaja port and steamed the ship to Finland, where it was later kept (it's now a restaurant ship in Helsinki after working for many years as a lightship),

The only mention I can find of the hijacking by Jaegers is on the Finnish wikipedia article (http://fi.wikipedia.org/wiki/Majakkalaiva_Helsinki) - - I'm wondering if anyone can shed a bit more light on this particular episode?

Thanks............Nigel

Cheers..............Nigel

Wikipedia: Battle of Paju would be one place to start.
