Strange and crazy facts of the Inter-War Era

There are similar threads in the World War I and World War II sections, so I thought that I would start a thread in this section.

During the annual Air Defence Exercises in England in the late 1920's, the performance of the Fairey Foxes of 12 Squadron was such that the Squadron was instructed to fly no faster than 140 mph (225 km/h) in order to give the defending fighters a chance to intercept them.
"Air superiority is a condition for all operations, at sea, in land, and in the air." - Air Marshal Arthur Tedder.

The fastest plane in the Finnish Air Force's arsenal between 1936 and 1939 was the Bristol Blenheim light bomber.

Hello!
Speaking about speed, in 1930s pilots and other flying personnel of Soviet Air Force who flew high-speed planes (IIRC, with speed of 400 km per hour and higher) received special allowance which amounted to 20-25% of their salary.

Best regards, Aleks
