I've run into Amazon.com and Google Books references to the following book by a Gary Sterne --

The Cover Up ay Omaha Beach: Maisey Battery and the US Rangers
Pen & Sword Military ltd 47 Chrch Street Barnsley South Yorkshire S7002AS
ISBN 978 1 84884 4896
Copyright Gary Sterne 2013

The US Edition on amazon is titled --

"The Cover-Up at Omaha Beach: D-Day, the US Rangers, and the Untold Story of Maisy Battery"
Hardcover – May 21, 2014

Has anyone seen/read this book.

The clips on Google books and associated photos look very good and speak to the Ranger Assault, the RAF bombing of Maisey Battery and the intentional burying of Maisey Battery by someone either during or just after WW2.

5 reviews all 5 star Amazon.

But no matter  - The author Gary Sterne (Dando)is a member here and has commented on this topic before (10 years back). He actually bought the (Maisey Battery)land and excavated it himself. He has put some serious money and time and study into this , so much, it did upset several of our resident -bunker hunters/historians.

Well, this new book seems to be important given the findings of Steve Zaloga in his book "THE DEVIL'S GARDEN: Rommel's Desperate Defense of Omaha Beach On D-Day."

Specifically he says that the biggest killer on Omaha Beach was the very heavy fortification -- greater than German infantry regiment TO&E and missed by Allied/American intelligence -- automatic weapons fire pinning down the troops, so mortars from the fortifications plus the un-located 105mm and 150mm batteries of the 352nd Artillery Regiment could do the killing.

Yet those batteries ran out of ammo the afternoon of the first day.

If Maisey battery was also unsuppressed, much about the Omaha Beach blood bath is explained.
