Narvik, why DDs?

#1

Post by JAG13 » 17 Jan 2015, 19:21

The KM sent 10 DDs under escort to deliver troops into Narvik, these ships were short ranged and would depend on pre-positioned oilers to refuel and be able to return to their base, not to mention far more uncomfortable and susceptible to weather... why not simply send the CLs they sent to the southern Norwegian ports so they can make the round trip on their own?

What was the logic behind the KM OOB during Weserubung?
