not any help to me, at least. It carries me no further than Trident and Polaris, how SLBMs tie in, I have yet to discern.

SLBMs are the key here, or the threat of them at least.

Cheers.

OK, last clue, I'll post the answer in a few days if there are no attempts at this.

Clue; This is an operation that took place towards the end of WWII. The main opponents were the US Navy and the Kriegsmarine.

Come on, this can't be that hard!

As there has been no question posted for over 6 months(!), I will post a question to get things moving again.

Which RAF pilot during the Battle of France forced a Heinkel He 111 to land in a paddock, landed himself, captured the crew at gunpoint, before turning them over the French authorities? His commanding officer remarked that it was a bit uncommon for pilots to bring back prisoners.

As there have been no replies to my question, here is a clue.

The pilot in question was an Australian, became an ace, but did not survive the Battle of France.

Thank you, Robb! Here's a minor puzzler for y'all to ponder.

How many battleships were sunk at Normandy?

2, I think (both deliberately, by the British, as blockships for the Gooseberries)
