I have been studying the Normandy Campaign and I can't get reliable figures for the casualties of the four major powers involved. That is, the British, Canadian, U.S. and German forces. I can get total casualties but what I am more interested in is exactly how many of these casualties were KIA/WIA/MIA for each country. Would anybody happen to know this and could you help me out?? Thanks in advance!!!:):):)

Hi Jon,

This is what I know about detailed casualties in Normandy;

Germans; 23 019 killed, 67 240 wounded and 198 616 missing or taken prisoner. (This relates to the period June 6th to August 31st 1944). Total German casualties 288 875. (The problem is that I don't know if this refers only to army losses, or losses for the Wehrmacht as a whole).

Allies;21st Army Group (British/Canadian/Polish- June 6th to August 29th1944) 15 995 killed, 57 996 wounded, 9 054 missing, total 83 045. American 20 838 killed, 94 881 wounded, 10 128 missing, total 125 847. Royal Air Force 8 178 killed or missing. US Army Air Force 8 536 killed or missing. Estimated Allied (Aircrew) losses in pre-Overlord operations 12 000 killed or missing. Allied Grand Total 237 606 casualties.
