I have just come across the site for 3rd US Armored Division in WW2, which includes a fully digitized version of their history 'Spearhead in the West'.

Great cover BTW - looks like a Sgt. Rock comic. :-)

A very good account of the battle for Walcheren, the opening of the Scheldt estuary, can be found on the Combined Ops website:

http://www.combinedops.com/Walcheren.htm

This contains an operational narrative, personal memoirs, maps, and lots of photos.

Merchant Navy in WW2 and Convoy.web

http://www.mikekemble.com/ww2/merchantnavyintro.html

A tribute to the Merchant Navy's role in the Battle of the Atlantic. Very good site. Contains individual accounts, lots of pictures.

This is a very informative site giving information

http://www.convoyweb.org.uk/

This site contains searchable databases on a vast number of convoys. E.g. the Russian convoy section contains information on ships in the convoy, whether and how they were sunk during that convoy, and on escorts associated with that particular convoy. A goldmine.

An excellent site containing tons of information on ships of all major navies of World War 2, including a searchable data base for (at least) RN losses, as well as well-researched and written stories of interesting actions.

One can spend hours there.

Gary Kennedy has a superb website with a lot of detail on unit TO&Es and tactics. Of particular interest to anyone building scenarios for e.g. Combat Mission, or who is interested in standard TO&Es for engagements where little detail is known.

A very interesting site about the history of escorts and convoys by a former member of the crew Leander class frigates.

http://www.middle-watch.co.uk/index.html (the old site, no longer updated, but with a nice intro to WW2 convoys) and

Some more naval information;

http://www.uboatarchive.net/ is a site containing a lot of original reports on the submarine war.

http://www.netmarine.net/bat/divers/aconit/index.htm is a French language page on the FNFL Aconit, which sank U-432 during the defense of convoy HX228, containing a lot of info on that particular convoy battle.

Thanks to Kingfish, I have come across this excellent and highly informative site about British units in WW2, with a strong focus on the Normandy battles:

http://warchronicle.com/units/British/contents.htm It is part of a larger site, but I have not yet had time to explore all of it.

http://warchronicle.com/

Contains unit histories, period document transcriptions, and first-person accounts.

A real treasure trove of combat reports and maps is the Fort Benning Infantry School website, which contains a good number of digitized monographs on combat actions in both World Wars and all theatres in which US infantry forces participated.

Anyone wanting to learn more about the Queen of the Battlefield should have a rummage there:

The Fort Sill Field Artillery Command has very helpfully put all its back issues of the Field Artillery Magazine into a searchable database. I highly recommend looking for articles from the World War II period. Here are some examples of the very interesting material found on the site (both are PDF files):

Article by the Norwegian Military Attaché in Washington on the battle of Norway on the 4th anniversary of the German invasion

Translation of a 1940 German article in Wehrwissenschaftliche Rundschau on artillery in the battle of France
