Can anybody tell me which Soviet units were involved or defended the city?

The Germans seems to have used the 17. Pz.-Div. to take it?

Soviet sources (Дмитрий Егоров) mention elements of 121 and 155 Rifle Divisions. Also several units trying to escape Bialystok cauldron (like 84th Artillery Regiment of 55th Rifle Division) were using the road through town and were caught in the fight.

Thanks, Greg. Wikipedia mentions a counterattack to retake Slonim by the 14th Mechanised corps. Is this true?

From what I can read here: 14 механизированный корпус (Google translated to English) that corps operated further south. I don't think it ever got near Slonim.

Thanks for the confirmation again, I was very sceptical because I could not find a ny serious source that mentioned it.

Looks like part of the fighting took place south of the city too but the 14th Mechanised Corps was still too far away.
