At St. Nicholas Day (December 6) Leutnant Dietel's Platoon retained its advanced position against a superior enemy, fighting in temperatures of 36 degrees Celsius below zero, and later it was ordered to withdraw. This day the Kradsch. Btl 40 reported that at 06:30 hours the enemy attacked in force and with artillery support against the security element of the AA 10 (two Platoons) and then at 08:00 hours about an enemy attack with strenght of around a battalion, supported by medium artillery, the German artillery could not intervene. The security element of the AA 10 with intentions to withdraw. The enemy penetrated the southern edge of Michailow. The element of the AA 10 was ordered to hold its positions.
