Supply depots KOVO / Southwestern Front June 1941

Post by Double-T » 12 Dec 2016, 18:12

Hi,

can anyone please help me to locate the Major supply Depots of the Southwestern Front that existed in June 1941?

I know for example:

- fuel Depot (no. 336) in Kulikov
- fuel Depot (no. 392) in Lvov/Lviv
- fuel Depot (no. 835) in Solotschiw (Close to Lvov/Lviv)
- fuel Depot (no. 940) in Kamenka-Strumilova- N/NE of Lvov/Lviv
- fuel Depot (no. 1061) in Zhovkva
- aviation fuel Depot close to Sokoliki (enough fuel for an Army according to a memoir of a Russian Officer)
- 1.500 railway waggons full of fuel were parked at the Station of Kalyniwka (that is to the North of Vinnitsa),
-.....

I'm of course also interested in ammunition- and other Depots.

Many thanks in advance, Thomas

And what is the purpose exactly? One can compile a partial list, but I'm not sure that it will be relevant without info on tonnage stored.

@Art: even if it's only a partial list, I would be very interested. I'm drawing a map with the locations of ground troops, airbases, and airbases planned or already under construction (as ordered in March 1941). What is missing, is the Situation of the supply System.

Unfortunately, I have only a few books that mention the supply bases in KOVO or the Southwestern Front in 1941. So any help is very welcome.

Best regards, Thomas

6 Army: POL depot at Belaya Tserkov, ration depot at Kazatin, civil POL base at Kazatin
12 Army: ordnance depot at Kalinovka, POL depots at Kalinovka, Gnivan', Ros', Smela, civil POL bases at Vinnitza, Zhmerinka, Pogrebniye, Cherkassy.
Misc. units: ordnance depot No. 118 at Brovary, No. 63 - Nezhin
POL depots N.670 - Chernigov, No.586 - Svyatoshino, No. 461 - Bakhmach, No. 769 - Grebenka, No. 666 - Belaya Tserkov

By that moment many pre-war depots must be lost.

Greetings.
Many thanks. Fascinated by this information about some of the service units.

Does anyone have this type of information available for the rest of the service units/depots, (possibly including signal units), of the Red Army at the beginning of the war?

Cheers

I've never seen anything like a complete list of units for the entire RA or even military districts in the west in June 1941. You can find some partial information, for example a list of units of the West Military District (ZapOVO) and their locations on 30 May 1941:
http://soldat.ru/doc/dis/zap/
From the list this one district had about 40 POL, 20 ration, 13 ordnance depots, 11 depots of air forces, 2 clothing, 6 motor depots, 3 signal depots, 3 engineer and 2 engineer explosive depots, 5 maps depots, 2 chemical, 2 veterinary and 1 medical depot, 1 depot of propaganda literature. So quite a number.

Another one for KOVO in June 1941: a truck Depot in Shepetivka (Shepetovka).

It's mentioned in the memoirs of both Rokossovsky and Moskalenko. Referred to as "District Reserve". 200 trucks were taken from there by Rokossovsky for his Mechanized Corps.
