I'm bemused by the " 50 on new 17-pdr carriages" as this was at a time when we had no carriages for the 17 pounder, they had to be put on to 25 pounder carriages and called Pheasant.

Nigel Evens might be referring to these. Limited traverse sounds like the limitations of the 25 Pdr carriage.

According to the entries in his diary in 1941, Alanbrooke took a great deal of interest in ensuring that British 3" and 3.7" AA guns were capable of being used for anti tank purposes against any large tanks the Germans might deploy. His diary entry for 22 July mentions requesting priority for Antoi tank ammunition for these weapons with Beeverbrook the secretary of state for supply.
