minelaying operations in Red Sea

#1

During WW2, Italian Navy performed some minelaying operations in Red Sea (according to the "La Guerra di Mine", US-MMI, Rome 1988, page 37 and following): from June, 6th, 1940, six anti-ship and four anti-submarine minefields were layed by Massaua-based destroyers and minelayers (380 anti-ship mines and 200 anti-submarine mines) mainly in front of Massaua and Assab.
Is there any data about Allied minelaying in the same area ?
Thanks in advance

Looking at http://www.naval-history.net/xGM-Ops-Minelaying.htm
The following is mentioned.
1942
Work on a deep A/S field at the southern entry to the Red Sea in December by TEVIOT BANK which was detached from the Mediterranean for this operation.
1943
Other than the completion of the A/S field in the entrance to the Red Sea started in 1942 the only surface ship mining activity during 1943 comprised ten offensive fields in the Sicilian Channel against enemy convoys supporting military operations in North Africa.

Thanks for the useful reference.
My question is linked to the sinking of tug Tai-Koo, mined on Sept., 12th, 1941 between Massaua and Aden (position 16.45N-40.05E (about 61 nm/214,5 deg (NNE) from Massaua)).
A drifting mine from an old Italian minefield could be the cause or, if any, from an Aden defensive minefield.
So, the question could be: were there defensive minefields at Aden during the operations against Italian East Africa ?

Hope this could add some other detail.

Thanks in advance

Fabrizio
