I know that Tomahawks II were operated by RAF in Middle East but did the Tomahawk I too?

If so how many?

In a short answer no Tomahawk I's were sent to the Middle East.

Almost all aircraft used in the Middle East were of the Tomahawk IIb model with a small smattering of Tomahawk IIa models. Approx. 18 Tomahawk I's were sent to West Africa and used by 349SQN whilst based at RAF Ikeja Nigeria, with some possibly being transferred to 73OTU at a later date (still to be confirmed, but is so occurred in early 1944)
