Social Composition of USA in 1776

Are there books or sources on what the social composition of American colonists were in 1776 ?

Let's say how many were (self-working along with their familes) farmers , how many slave-owners and land-owners , how many merchants , how many artisans and how many slaves?

I've only found out that there were 18% of slaves in 1780.

Even the first US Census conducted in 1790, which was 14 years after 1776, didn't ask any questions regarding the social structure. Link to the questions asked:
