Ironmachine,

Correct!

Union Brigadier General William Rufus Terrell was killed at the Battle of Perryville, KY in October 1862, while his brother, Confederate Brigadier General James Barbour Terrell, was killed in action near Bethesda Church, Virginia in 1864.

Your turn to ask a question.

Military man, without doubt. And certainly a very well known one. He was among the greatest of history... or better said, he defeated one of the greatest of history. :)

Well pb, it is clear that you know the answer. So over to you, keep the quiz going on.
Regards.

PS: In case there is someone out there that still can't figure who this man is, he is Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington.

This is a print by Goya (from The Disasters of War series) representing Agustina de Aragón firing a gun during the siege of Zaragoza by the French in 1808.

hi, Ironmachine,

it´s a German gunboat, but ...
either ILTIS, involed in the Boxer rising in China in 1900 (shelling of the Taku forts),
or PANTHER, involved in the Morocco crisis of 1911 (Agadir).

The two are not distinguishable ... but I presume it (she, as a ship) is the latter.

hi,

A British author and Oscar prize winner had an idea which gave - later - a name to an USN aircraft carrier.
