Correlation Between SS and Stasi Uniforms?

#1

I have noticed that the East German post war Stasi organisation seems to have taken a leaf out of the SS book for uniform design. In particular the Stasi seem to use the same kind of embroidered belt and also use a round belt buckle for officers. They also hang some kind of dagger off their belt much like the SS did.

Is this just coincidence or something else?

DDR was heiress in many details of Wehrmacht uniforms.
