Below some of the targets in the Communist block from recently declassified The Strategic Air Command Atomic Weapons Requirements Study for 1959.
All targets, called Designated Ground Zeros (DGZs) were assigned one or more nuclear weapons. 4600 DGZs were planned. There were 179 of them in Moscow, 145 in Leningrad.
My town, population 30,000, was going to get a multi-megaton ground level burst.
