Hello

I was wondering if anyone here can help me with a question.
all the soldiers who were with in 6. Division in 1941 were they also given Northern Viena Cross.
or maybe they were not included in III Army Corps in 1941.

The basis for awarding (fi: myöntöperusteet) the Cross was, according to the awarding document, to have fought at Kiestinki, Uhtua, Pääjärvi or Vuokkiniemi during 1941-44 or otherwise having contributed to the fighting at III Army Corps' area during the same time.

Since the 6th Division fought at Salla and was not part of the III Army Corps I would imagine that the men were not awarded the Northern Viena Cross but rather the 6th Division Cross instead.

It's perhaps worth noting that unlike medals these crosses were not awarded. I mean: they were official, there were rules about who is entitled to them, but they were not given, they were purchased at cost (either by the individual or in some cases the unit association or similar) and far from all veterans ever got them.

(I'm not entirely sure but I believe veterans and their relatives can still acquire these crosses.)
