Methinks MP38 or MP40 were standard accessoires in StuG:s ?

+ PzKw IVJ tanks and some soft vehicles. None of these submachine guns were acquired separately. The total number of MP-38 and MP-40 in use of Finnish military was around 150 - 160 weapons.Lotvonen wrote:Methinks MP38 or MP40 were standard accessoires in StuG:s ?
What is known suggests that it may have been very rare for even this limited number of submachine guns to see actual combat use. They were probably removed from most vehicles before the vehicles were issued in Finland. Wartime photos showing these in actual use are extremely rare - SA-photo 156029 that Mangrove posted and the previous photo (156028) are the only ones I have heard of.

Unknown Finnish Defence Forces' photograph spotted from another forum; supposedly taken in 1941. The Finnish officer on the right can be seen holding a MP 38/40.

According to original patrol report, a "German SMG" is mentioned to have been carried by Sergeant U. Perkko during a patrol by 1./Er.P 4 and 4./Er.P 4 towards Juoni (Yonsky/Енский, near Kantalahti/Kandalaksha/Кандала́кша) between 1 and 6 October 1943. Perkko operated m/10 "kyynel" radio during the patrol. However, the report also mentions the patrol only carried drum magazines.
