Os. Dammert?
Dear members,
I have a question, does anyone know or have heard of an "Osasto Dammert"?
I have not been able to obtain any information about this detachment at all,
nevertheless I have discovered it in a Sotilaskantakortti. In there it is mentioned to be a part of 17. Division during the beginning of the Continuation War (Os.Dammert/17.D).
All help will be gladly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

I added a picture, hoping to get closer to an answer. I know for sure that there is written "Dammert", since it's mentioned elsewhere too. Sorry for the bad handwritting.

Re: Os. Dammert?
Interesting. To my understanding such detachments were created early in the war and then disbanded quickly, so information can be scarce.
Re: Os. Dammert?
If you want to dig through the archives.. 17 D was near Hanko at least at the start of the period mentioned in the document. So either the war diaries of 17 D, or Hanko Group, or even Navy HQ.

Re: Os. Dammert?
Hi,
Thank you Aleksander P and Vaeltaja for taking notes to this question.
Never thought about to look through Hanko Group or Navy HQ. Tried to look through the war diaries of 17D - but I am a bit challenged due to none-existing finnish language qualities. Nevertheless I tried but I could not find anything - nor have I found something about Dammert. The only clue I found was from a page about genealogy where a Knut Wilhelm Dammert is mentioned. He was an officer in the 1920s. Do not state he was the leader of this detachment, cause I have not a single clue - but he could be based upon his name.
Please give me some clues.. Everything is much appreciated even the slightest clues.

Re: Os. Dammert?
It is not much of a clue but usually in Finnish parlance those detachments or groups (i.e. osasto) were named after the commanding officer. Often abbreviated to the first letter of the commanding officer's surname. So Osasto Dammert or (Os. D) was most likely led by an officer named Dammert.
