According to what I have read the heavy Petlyakov Pe-8 bombers took part in the bombings of Helsinki during February 1944. One Pe-8 was supposedly shot down by a German nightfighter (Ebgerd Jaaks, JG 302) over Helsinki on the night of 26.-27.2.1944. I wonder if this is confirmed by Soviet sources (that a Pe-8 was lost or went missing on the night mission over Helsinki 26/27.2.1944)?
I have been told that one Pe-8 would have force-landed erlier in Finland during the Continuation War, but not further details. Does anyone know when that happened and to what it was connected?
Pe-8´s operational use against Finland?
Re: Pe-8´s operational use against Finland?
According to http://www.tyrmistynyt.info/q/75tzx8f3b8bsd307.html on 10 August 1941 a Pe-8 returning from bombing mission to Berlin made a forced landing at Rutumi, apparently with casualties since a memorial plaque for Soviet aviators involved from 1985 is mentioned.

More like fell down than force landed.On 11.08.41 had force landed TB-7 (Pe-8)
Seems that the pilot (Panfilov) had been killed and the co-pilot (Antipov) bailed out before the crash

Rudom = Rutumi (in finnish)
