The green stuff seems to be disintegrating (see the crack at the top). What is the best way to prevent it cracking more?
The picture has a sword and the head of an animal. Is it a bear? Or dog or something else? Is it a symbol of some military unit?
The year is 1940. I am pretty sure they did not have time to make rings in Winter War (-: so it is not the year the ring was made. What does the year mean?
Inside the ring is letters T V. They are not the initials of the person who owned the ring. Can they be the initials of the person that made the ring?
How to preserve trench art ring?

You should contact your local Conservator-restorer and try to find out what kind of material it is. Some materials are easier to clean and repair than others.Lammio wrote: The green stuff seems to be disintegrating (see the crack at the top). What is the best way to prevent it cracking more?
Bear and a sword is the emblem of the Finnish Border Guard.Lammio wrote: The picture has a sword and the head of an animal. Is it a bear? Or dog or something else? Is it a symbol of some military unit?

Was the emblem used already in 1940 (or during the Continuation War when the ring was probably made)?Mangrove wrote:Bear and a sword is the emblem of the Finnish Border Guard.
Hmm... Why a person that never was in border guards had a ring with border guard emblem...?
