I know next to nothing about naval warfare, but this time my nose was pointed in the right direction right away and finding the correct answer was as simple as finding a truffle is for a trained pig.

Which leads us to the next question: We are in the post-war, post-Soviet years and around us we can see, well, edible mushrooms. Where are we?

If we had been there in 1944 and asked "Who's in charge?", a soldier wearing captain's insignia would've answered "I am!"

...and, if we had been there then, and asked the Captain about his name, would he have answered: Törni, Lauri Allan?

No, if someone mentioned the captain by name, most people who are quite familiar with Finnish military history could only say "Captain who?" - but I dare say they know about him.

Since this is probably a much harder question than I imagined to be, here's the next hint: in 1944 it would've taken a colonel to "outrank" him...

...or, to a certain extent, a major with a drawn pistol or even a lieutenant with a submachine gun!

Since the question was for the manufacturer, Tempo will do nicely. The small lorry was their model A 600 of which Germany delivered 200 to Finland; Photo source Puolustusvoimien moottoriajoneuvot 1919-1959 by Markku Mäkipirtti. Mäkipirtti estimates that Finland received around 100 of the cross-country Tempo G 1200 (aka Tempo-Vidal G 1200 aka Vidal G 1200), another Vidal & Sohn Tempo-Werke GmbH product using a 600 cc twin-stroke engine, in fact two for one car.

Over to you,

Markus

Congratulations, Juha! The one about the lieutenant was probably too easy, a giveaway, but it is often a thin line between too difficult and too easy...

Apparently the storage caves are now used as a portobello (champignon) farm run by a retired Soviet colonel. In June 1944 the CO, Capt. Rautamaa, followed strict orders and refused to hand over artillery ammunition without the proper form signed by the artillery commander of IV Army Corps, Col. Sippola (and when a lieutenant was sent to the IV AK HQ, a lieutenant followed orders, refused to wake the colonel up and tole the lieutenant to come back in the morning) or to issue any ammunition to a battalion because "it would mess up our bookkeeping if we started doling out ammo to all small units who say they need it". The captain did budge a bit, when he was suitably persuaded, and issued some small arms and mortar ammo, but when the colonel's signature was acquired, it was already too late, and the acute shortage of especially artillery ammunition was a major contributing factor to the debacle in Viipuri on June 20th.

Good evening, Juha!

IMHO, this is Soviet minesweeper TShch-100 (ex-Finnish gunboat Aunus). This picture obviously shows her during the battle for island Sukho on lake Ladoga in October, 1942.
