Allright, next question:

Colonel Auno Kaila was the commander of 4th Division for most of the Winter war. After Winter war he went to University of Helsinki to continue his studies in dentistry. What and where did Auno Kaila do during the Continuation war?

IIRC he was with another officer on an official trip to Far East when the Continuation War broke out, so he stayed in Japan as the Finnish Military Attaché.

Yes, he served as Finnish Military Attaché in Tokyo 1941-45.

I've only read that he was sent to Japan to take this position, but it is quite interesting if he ended there by accident. Maybe he was prepared for quite a bit shorter trip in Far East, which became four years duty in Tokyo. Kaila resigned from service after he returned to Finland in 1945.

Next question, please.

Thank you.

In what way the Soviet 7th Fighter Aviation Regiment was significant in the history of Finnish military aviation?

Hmmmm.......
The unit of the first ever aircraft shot down by Finnish Defence Forces and/or the unit that shot down first Finnish plane (during the Winter War) ?

I accept the answer, even though I'm not sure if it was the first aircraft shot down by Finnish Defense Forces, but it certainly was the first shot down by the Air Force. Ylikersantti Toivo Uuttu from Lentolaivue 26, flying a Bristol Bulldog biplane, shot down an I-16 from 7th IAP on 1 December 1939, but was damaged in turn and had to crash-land on the frozen lake Muolaanjärvi.

Over to you.

30th November 1939 around 0930 hours (private ?) Leimo Purola from JR24 shot down a low flying Soviet I-15 fighter, belonging to 7th IAP, with his (LS-26?) LMG at Sakkola.
This was the plane I ment and AFAIK the first plane shot down by FDF.

New question, name register code of the StuG at the pic

Corect.
On 15th June at Kuuterselkä, the -17 damaged by Soviet AT-fire , the crew left the vehicle and exploded a demolition charge inside it.
the -23 Esa mentioned was lost (intact) at the same battle.
Over to Rodan

Hello Rodan

Looks like a T-34 turret on a Sherman chassis. But what it was used for? No idea.

It's not a Sherman but the turret indeed is similar to T-34.

Correct answer. It's finnish T-38-34. These tanks were built on a T-38 chassis, turret was built to resemble T-34 turret. T-38-34 was used to train anti-tank troops. Also T-38-KV was built, that tank was similar to T-38-34 but with turret resemble to KV-1. That picture is from a book of Esa Muikku and Jukka Purhonen "The finnish armoured vehicles 1918 - 1997".
To you.
