I think I used some words a bit sloppy in the question (as always, when I write or speak English, wich is, as understod, not my first, not even my second language), so, I have the feeling that I am obliged to give one more hint...

Hint II: One of them in question never knew, at least not in this world, what he had been awarded, and therfore never could be present in Mikkeli (St. Michael) to recive his award.

Brothers Iisalo were both Mannerheim cross holders.

Iisalo Keijo Pentti( cross number 16 ) was a captain and as a first lietenant he captured an enemy cannon. Learned to use it quickly and fired 40 shells with it on an enemey transport colonnade and kept the position until his battallion came to the site. born 1920 captain 1967 still alive.

Seen here at the funerals of Infantry general Ehrnrooth:

Here is a speech by Pentti Iisalo:

Iisalo Tauno Veikko Ilmari( cross number 168 ) was a captain in the airforce and showed bravery beyond comprehension when attacking enemy position with a bomber numerous times. Returning to base with an aeroplane shoot into oblivian and flying against all odds. Forced landing a bomb stuck inside the plane and wing spar broken. Landing a plane when elevator wires were cut and inoperational. etc. born 1916 captain 1944.

Their mother was Siiri Aino Törnroos and daddy Jaakko Antero Iisalo ( railroad official ).

In addition to the Pentti and Tauno, there were two other brothers (Aulis and Viljo Antero) and two sisters (Aila and Hilkka Aino) at the family. All the four boys were officers, and of them Aulis Iisalo was a Mannerheim cross cadidate, but never received one.

Regards, Juha

P.S. Very off-topic (after the discussion about the heros) ...Hilkka Iisalo married a Orvo Lipponen and they got a son which got name Paavo...

Ok Juha,

Pentti had 5 children.

Name 4 Mannerheim cross receivers of the finnish air force who died during the war.

Two of them dressed always in a grey uniform. Why did they do so ?

best regards,

topspeed :)

Nissinen, Maunula, Winqvist (Kahla)
...but actually before posting any new questions, we have to wait Esa to judge about the answers made to his question.

Right Juha,

I have to refrase my question. There were indeed 4 air force medal receivers who died during the war. I forgot all about Maunula. Maunulas two sons were also officers ( still in duty ? ).
I recall talking to one of the Maunulas sons. Cross holder Maunula was the only cross receiver who flew Morane Saulniers, but he never became an "ace". There was also an ace flying MS 406 fighter who was he ?

I hope Esa K agrees on my answer regarding Iisalo bro:s.

Topspeed, please re-read the original question...

Second leutant P. Iisalo and Captain T. Iisalo where brohers, and Mannerheim cross recivers. Among the recivers of the mentioned decoraton there was two other who where pretty close relatives. Who where they?

It wasn't the Iisalo brothers we're looking for.

Yep, Topspeed you where a bit too fast this time... Congrats to Juha who gave the right answer. The cousins where Hans Wind and Kauko Tuomala. Wind is so known that I think he needs no further presentation here, so some words about Tuomala. With "his" PAK 40 Tuomala destroyed 8 tanks, 2 assault guns and 4 artillery tractors along the Heinjoki road during the morning 26/6 1944 before he was killed by a direct hit on his gun.

So, over to Juha

Thanks Esa,

Interesting question :)
I was pretty sure about Wind being the other one, but couldn't remember the other without this:
Image

About Tuomala there's a novel: "Aamu Heinjoen Tiellä" by Mauri Sariola: http://www.kirjasto.sci.fi/msariola.htm

New one.
Name the plane:

50/50, but think the plane is a ASJA SA 14 Jaktfalk II (Swedish Air Force designation J 6B)? But, hey wait! Isn«t this a forum dedicated to the Winter and Continuation War...?

Baaaad joke. :) There«s a connection to mentioned wars. Finland recived two of the type as part of the Swedish aid during the Winter War, never in Finland used as fighters, only as trainers. Or was it the other type of the plane on the pic....

Well I go for my first thougt...

OK, but Sweden was involved, as ASSJA, and the Winter War, not FAF, but F 19. Used as a liaision aircraft...

It´s a:

Raab-Katzenstein RK-26 Tigerschwalbe?
