Osia I/JR 48 + Osia 2./Pion.P 2 =

Osia I/JR 48 + Pion.J/JR 48 + Jääk.J/JR 48 + Osia II/JR 48 + Osia 14./JR 48 + Osia 2./Pion.P 2 =

Sounds like different battle groups (Taisteluosasto) during the Battle of Tali-Ihantala.

The time/place, Tali - Ihantala battle, is correct.

Battle Group (If it´s the translation for Taisteluosasto?) is correct for one of them, the 3 others are Osastoja ([Battle?] Detatchments). Mikko you are on the right track. Now just tell wich one is the Taisteluosasto (Tst. Os.) and wich ones are a Osasto (Os.) and also give the names of the detatchments/groups...

(for those who not speak Finnish, in my Q the word Osia means Parts of)

Again, to hard, to easy, to boring? Anyway, time for some hints...

II/JR 35 + I/JR 48 + II/JR 48 + I/JR 30 = Founded 1/7 1944

I/JR 48 + II/JR 48 + III/JR 13 + 2./303.Stug.Brig = Founded early in the morning 27/6 1944

Osia I/JR 48 + Osia 2./Pion.P 2 = Founded in the evening 27/7 1944

Osia I/JR 48 + Pion.J/JR 48 + Jääk.J/JR 48 + Osia II/JR 48 + Osia 14./JR 48 + Osia 2./Pion.P 2 = Founded in the early morning 28/6 1944

New Formula!

Combine the following letters with one of the following numbers and you will have the correct answers:

II/JR 35 + I/JR 48 + II/JR 48 + I/JR 30 = A

I/JR 48 + II/JR 48 + III/JR 13 + 2./303.Stug.Brig = B

Osia I/JR 48 + Osia 2./Pion.P 2 = C

Osia I/JR 48 + Pion.J/JR 48 + Jääk.J/JR 48 + Osia II/JR 48 + Osia 14./JR 48 + Osia 2./Pion.P 2 = D

Tst. Os. Forsberg = 1

Os. Koppinen = 2

Os. Laaksonen = 3

Os. Tähtinen = 4

OK, last hint.

Now it´s 50% to, if not eternal glory and fame, at least have the chance to have the next round...

II/JR 35 + I/JR 48 + II/JR 48 + I/JR 30 = ?

I/JR 48 + II/JR 48 + III/JR 13 + 2./303.Stug.Brig = ?

Osia I/JR 48 + Osia 2./Pion.P 2 = Os. Tähtinen

Osia I/JR 48 + Pion.J/JR 48 + Jääk.J/JR 48 + Osia II/JR 48 + Osia 14./JR 48 + Osia 2./Pion.P 2 = Os. Koppinen

Correct answers is:

II/JR 35 + I/JR 48 + II/JR 48 + I/JR 30 = Os. Laaksonen

I/JR 48 + II/JR 48 + III/JR 13 + 2./303.Stug.Brig = Tst. Os. Forsberg

Osia I/JR 48 + Osia 2./Pion.P 2 = Os. Tähtinen

Osia I/JR 48 + Pion.J/JR 48 + Jääk.J/JR 48 + Osia II/JR 48 + Osia 14./JR 48 + Osia 2./Pion.P 2 = Os. Koppinen

And because Mikko H was the only one who made a try and was on right track, I say, over to Mikko H, Turku, Finland.

Who said of the Finnish armistice in September 1944: 'Because Finland gave up the battle only after exhausting all her powers, she is not guilty of betrayal.'

My guess is that Adolf Hitler said that to a Japanese Ambassador.

That was fast! Yes, Adolf Hitler said that to Japanese Ambassador Oshima on 4 September 1944. Rather surprising that Der Führer was so calm, even understanding. 8O

Over to you.

It is surprisingly understandtive comment. I guess Himmler on the other hand called the Finns lice. Let see if I have a good question:

Who are these two gentlemen talking in this small dialogue? knowing one is already pretty good.

- Miten voi Marsalkka Mannerheim?

- Aika hyvin hänen korkeaan ikäänsä katsoen.

- Niin, hän oli suuri sotilas. Olla nyt vastuullisessa asemassa viisi sotaa. Se on enemmän kuin minä olisin jaksanut. Suomella on aihetta kiittää häntä paljosta. Pyydän teitä viemään hänelle terveisiä.

As I could not find official english translation, here is my rough english translation of that dialogue:

- How is Marshall Mannerheim doing?

- Pretty good considering his high age.

- Yes, he was a great soldier. To be in responsible position in five wars. That is more than I could've managed. Finland has many reasons to thank him. I ask you to pass my greetings to him.

So, who are these two men?

Regards,
-Pete
