#2 is quite correct in his answer.
The ice road was opened 17.2.40 and traffic continued to 25.3.40.Allthoug the importance of that road was quite small,it however delivered some much needed at-gunns and ammunition.The moral effect was something to be recon also.Hatts off for brave drivers who did drove upon tricky ice.
