Few (educated)gueses:
German and Russian should belong to the group.
Also French and Hungarian.
The remaining two... Italian and British?
You got it close - 5 out of 6 correct. :)

Which makes it 6 out of 6 correct. Over to you Juha.

I am planning to add a page probalably add a new page about Finnish-used hand grenades once I get ready the assault guns page that I working with right now. But as a preview of sort, here is some info about hand grenades used by Finnish Army during World War 2:
1. Finnish hand grenades:
- Defensive: m/32 egg, m/41 egg and m/43 egg.
- Offensive: m/32 stick, m/41 stick and m/41 egg.

2. Soviet (captured) hand grenades:
- Defensive: F1 egg.
- Offensive / defensive (removable fragmentation jacket): m/14-30 stick and m/33 (RDG-33) stick.
Total 161,000 captured during Winter War, probably even more during Continuation War.

3. German hand grenades:
- Offensive: Sa/41 stick (stielhandgranate 39 - around 497,000 bought in 1941) and Sa/39 (eirhandgranate 39 - some 149,000 bought in 1944).
(possible: egg m/15 aka eirhandgrenate 17)

4. French hand grenades:
- Defensive: m/F.
- Offensive: m/O.F.
Total 200,000 promised during Winter War, from which at least 100,000 delivered.

5. British hand grenades:
- Defensive: Mills bomb (apparently 40,000 promised during Winter War, from which at least 10,000 delivered).
(possible: Lemon egg)

6. Hungarian hand grenades:
- Offensive: m/U egg (Hungarian model 1936). 300,000 bought during Winter War.

7. Swedish hand grenades:
- Offensive: m/Mörner egg (at least few hundred acquired during Winter War), possibly also R/18 (model 1918) stick.

I have the name "Grotenfelt Circus" tagged on the three photos I have downloaded of that series.
Could that be what you are looking for??

Hi Bill,

Well done, correct answer.
A mobile repair shop unit, using locally constructed vehicles looking like circus wagons.
Not bad at all from a "foreigner" :) and in just seven minutes!
The one above and some more photos at SA-photos 50333-50347 http://sa-kuva.fi/neo?tem=webneoeng

Thanks Juha for the kind words.

I am working on "The Finnish Project" which I will explain later on a separate thread when I finish it but in the meantime, I am now spending about 2 hours a day on the SA-Kuva site.

While I am only saving photos of soft skin vehicles in the main, I have become fascinated with not only Finland's activities in WWII but also such subjects as the Finnish timber and farming industries, Finnish furniture, the Lotta organization and of course the back and forth history with Russia and the Soviet Union over the possession of the border territories of the two/three countries.

As such, I have bookmarked about 20 subjects not dealing with my beloved soft skins that I will someday be able to read a bit more about.

In the meantime, what is this and where did it come from?

Well - it looks like a sleeping bag from the U.S., but maybe that is a too simple answer...?

Sleeping bag yes, but from a different and much lesser known friendly country. Interesting story actually

Keep thinking,

Hi Juha:

Good job, and below is the article where I found this and a lot more information about the efforts of the Finnish communities in Australia and New Zealand to convince the politicians of those countries to provide assistance to the "homeland".

Right now, I am 1,000 km from home at my daughter's house using my brand new Surface Tablet which does not yet have all the data stored in my PC so communicating is a bit edgy. As well, it has a tiny keyboard that my 74 year old fingers have trouble using and a very tiny, tiny mouse that jumps all over the screen. Hard to communicate until I convert it to "my size" accessories.

So, please continue.................

As I warned before, high resolution images from SA-Kuva collection contain caption text in EXIF image file header. So dirty guys like me could take advantage of knowing it.

Hi,

And congratulations for the correct answer.
Actually I was counting on you a bit, as AFAIK gunboat Haapaniemi also sailed at your homewaters.

P.S. I'll try to be more careful next time (if it ever comes)
