Re: The official AHF Winter & Continuation War quiz thread
It's a decoy machine gun, which shot bursts of fire on it's own to fool Finns while Soviets evacuated from Hanko?

Yep,
Well done.
A battery powered, clockwork guided, self operated gun the soviets left behind at Hanko 1941, to cover their evacuation of their last troops there.

Your turn next.

Re: The official AHF Winter & Continuation War quiz thread
The first questions are "What is the name of this song and where this song originally came from?":
Addis-Ebeba ja maa Abessinian
on kaikkein huulella, tuulella,
mielellä, kielellä, juu
Haile Selassie ja setä Mussolini
on sota saapasniemellä mustalla
miehellä juu.
Varjossa palmujen on kenttäkeittiö
kookosta keittävi siell' musta heittiö.
And the following question is "Which Finnish propaganda song is based on this?".

Well, it is 'Eldankajärven jää', but it wasn't a propaganda song?

"Eldankajärven jää" is the correct answer to the latter question. Whether it can be called a propaganda song or not; it depends. I guess the original version wasn't really propaganda, but the later version had it's lyrics slightly rewritten. I think later versions "Ei ryssillä heiniä" -part can be considered propaganda. "Eldankajärven jää" also can be found from a record "Molotohvin koktaili – Sota-ajan propagandaa levyillä 1940–1942", which (as the name suggests) contains propaganda music.John Hilly wrote:Well, it is 'Eldankajärven jää', but it wasn't a propaganda song?

Even though you forgot to answer the first questions "What is the name of this song and where this song originally came from?", I think it's your turn.

Re: The official AHF Winter & Continuation War quiz thread
The national marking in the turret seems to indicate winter war timeframe, so perhaps BT-5 in the background with T-26 in the fore?

Re: The official AHF Winter & Continuation War quiz thread
T-26 is correct (T-26 model 1937), but the tank in the background is not a BT-5. It's turret has the Finnish national emblem: white - blue - white stripes. The tank in the front is actually nowadays in Parola Tank Museum!

Yes, saw the stripes hence the winter war era. Is it one of the Finnish Vickers 6 tons then?
