Kuoleman Eskadroona/Death Eskadron

Does anyone have any information about group called "kuoleman Eskadroona" /Death Eskadron/ Dödens Eskadron.
Name indicates that this was an Cavalry unit. Did this operate under URR or Was it one of the Kevyt osasto's(light detachments)
My friends Grand Father served in this unit but its very difficult to find any information about it.
He found his Granpa's bracelet wich is blue and gold and it has somekind on insignia. On the back side there's name and words" Dödens eskadron".( My Friend's family speaks Swedish.)
This bracelet thing was typical in Cavalry ,every unit had their own. I know this because my own granpa served before the war's in Cavalry.
This unit had also Skuls painted on the helmets(that makes me think it might be Light Detachment).
If somebody owns books: Ratsuväen historia 1
Ratsuväen historia 2
Please check.

Does it really say "eskadron" in the Swedish version? I would have expected "skvadron" since that's the Swedish form of squadron, etc.

Skvadron

It may Have been skvadron. I only saw it for a brief moment and my Swedish is not perfect by any means. But since it was a cavalry bracelet my mind probably translated it directly to eskadron.

Sorry, asumption is the mother of all fuck up's.

Wasn't 1. Eskadroona / URR called "Kuoleman eskadroona"?

This nickname became to public again rather recently when someone proposed that the forthcoming volunteer regional defense company would have been named as "Kuoleman eskadroona" at Lappeenranta to honour the history of Uusimaa Dragoon Regiment (URR). Obviously the idea was not accepted...

It was not 1., it was 2. Eskadroona /URR.
1. eskadroona was called "Lippueskadroona".

Do you appear to know the names of the other squadrons (and those of HRRs as well)?

At least these were in URR (no idea for english names..):

1. Eskadroona = Lippueskadroona
2. Eskadroona = Kuoleman eskadroona
3. Eskadroona = Iskueskadroona
Kranaatinheitineskadroona = Mustat husaarit
Panssarintorjuntaeskadroona = Tuhoojahusaarit

Others:
Esikuntaeskadroona
Huoltoeskadroona
Kuljetuseskadroona
Rakuunakoulu
Rakuunasoittokunta

I think that there were also few others, but I can't remember the names.

Jussi-Pekka

This EoD is still active as a part of Finnish Defence Forces. Hämeen Rykmentti

Here is their official link.
http://www.mil.fi/maavoimat/joukot/hamr/hamrengl_en.dsp

You will find them from " Esikuntaeskadroona. " 2nd. Platoon.
Today they have a black flag with a human skull and red rose.

Today most of them are trained to be Military Police.

I served this very platoon in 1999.

Hi everybody! I asked this today from my grandfather, who served in URR year 1941 attack phase until they reached Äänisjärvi in eastern Karelia. He said that there were no death eskadron/ helmets with painted skulls in URR. I also found same information which kameli wrote from wikipedia... But there is no years when wikipedia claims URR had those. My grandfather also said, that some other group had painted skulls in their helmets. He unfortunatelu didn't remember which. My grandfather was tranferred to JP1 after URR reached Äänisjärvi, so after that he don't know/ remember (he is soon 90 years old). This topic interests me lot, so if you know any more information please tell!

I already told you their exact location.

I hope you pay attention.

Kuoleman Eskadroona = Hämeen Rykmentin Esikuntaeskadroonan toinen joukkue.

http://www.mil.fi/maavoimat/joukot/hamr/hamrengl_en.dsp

I know because I personally have been carrying that setup and I served my military with in that very platoon.

They ARE the 2nd platoon of Esikuntaeskadroona, Hämeen Rykmentti and they still had the human skull in their own platoon flag. They still carried the brass "Kuoleman Eskadroona" sign, but I know someone broke it in 2001 in use.

This part of cavalry army ends in end of 2014 and after that they do not exist any longer.
If you need to find more information about that very platoon, you are running out of time.

UNFORTUNATELY.
I am writing this at end of 2014 and I have to salute all those who have been serving the military in Kuoleman Eskadroona.

Also the Jäger Company of Kevyt Osasto 5 -Light Detachment 5 used skulls on their helmets during the Winter War, e.g. in Summa.
It was called "Kuoleman komppania" - "The Company of Death".
