This is one of the old pictures from my family album. As far as I know it was taken in late fall of 1941 in one of the photostudios of Vienna, Austria. These people were friends of my grandmother.
Is there any way to identify them?
According to my grandparent they were arrested in 1942 by Gestapo and kept in the House of Horror. They were traeted as soldiers since they were involved in Kreisau Circle. That happened over 70 years ago. I am trying to establish their names.

Thanks in advance,

Grzegorz

You can search many Gestapo mug shots from Vienna at this website: http://www.doew.at/php/gestapo/
Good luck.

I went through all images of the DÖW archive called "No longer anonymous" with the Gestapo mugshots.
This is the man with the most similarity to Grzegorz´ photo:

Thank You History1,
Looking at the face that would be the man, but I think that his record does not fit.

Your welcome, Grzegorz!
To me it rather looks like this is your man. IMHO your photo was shot a few years before his arrest.

I doubt the story that anyone of the Kreisauer Kreis was treated as soldier, this was a middle class - civil resistance group and not based on soldiers. If you mean they were threated as "traitor" then I agree.

Another photo from this guy, from the Spain Archive " Austrians [fighting] for Spains freedom 1936-39" of the DÖW:

Your name sounds polish ;-)

Pozdrawiam,
Roman

Roman,

I appreciate your help. Thanx for that pic.

Do want me to PM you or here?

PS.
My name is Jarek, but my grandmother called me Greg. I guess she had a reason for that.

1941 Vienna.jpg
This is a complete picture of my grandparents and their friends. As you see my grandmother is pregnant.
I know it was taken in Vienna in 1941. I'd like to know where exactly(the fhoto-studio name, and address.)

Is it possible?

The only chance is the back of your photo where normaly the photographer place his copyright annotation.
BTW I don´t think this is the work of a professional photographer. Would such cut of the arms of the men or place them before a two - toned background? Certainly not.

I know what you mean. I can see that too and totally agree.

The back of the photo loks like a post-card and since it was glued to the page of old album I don't notice there anything.
I will scan it anyway and post it here tomorrow.

Thanks

This is a back of the picture, the only visible evidence of her stay in Reich. This pic survived by miracle. All the evidence that my grandmother was ever there was destroyed when she came back to her parents place.

It seems to me that this is NOT the whole backside of the photo.
Hints for that on the card:
Wied [en] = Vienna
Roku 19 [..] = year 19.. or maybe better translated as "anno 19.."

Note also the mark "Mimosa" below Roku!
Found some info about this company:
Neue Photographische Gesellschaft AG 1894-1948
Berlin, Germany

The New Photographic Society was a member organization of photographers founded by Arthur Schwarz. In 1894 their 35 members turned the group into a Limited Corporation. Their members published many real photo postcards and stereo-views, and they manufactured photo paper as well. They also printed real photo cards for other companies such as Rotograph and became the largest manufacturer of bromide postcards in the world. As demand for postcards grew they started publishing artist signed cards as tinted halftones. In 1922 they were taken over by Mimosa who carried on their name until 1948, but their postcard department was incorporated into E.A. Schwerdtfeger, Ltd. who continued producing their cards until the Second World War.

Maybe you can tell me the name of your GM and what she did in Vienna? When exactly did she stay there and for how long?
PM me if you want with the datas.
