Was Herberts Cukurs definately a war criminal? I have read about his alleged crimes, just seemed that a recognised nation lituanian aviator would get mixed up in such terrible things during WW2.
I know he was killed in 1965 so there must have been some substance to the stories, but of course there was never a trial. I read somewhere that in Latvia he is still ackowledged as a national hero.
Any thoughts on this or information. The Hunting Evil book chapter on this was very interesting on what happened to him in Uragray.
Regards.
