What do you mean ??!
Bundesheer = Austrian
Bundeswehr = German Federal Republic
-- and only the Bundeswehr used former NVA equipment in cooperation with the "BWB" (Bundeswehr-Beschaffungsamt) in Koblenz !

Re: Bundesheer use of NVA equipment
With the unification of the two german armies on October 3rd 1990 the Bundeswehr got from the NVA: 750 aircraft & helicopters, over 200 Volksmarine ships & boats, 2,700 tanks, 9,400 armored vehicles, over 130,000 other vehicles, 2,200 artillery pieces, 10,600 surface-air missiles, 1,4 mio. small arms and over 300,000 tons of ammunition.
Looks like the NVA had much more firepower and ammunitions than the Bundeswehr although it was 3 times smaller...
The Bundeswehr kept only a small share of the NVA heritage, as
- 600 BMP-1 infantry tanks "BMP-1A1 (Ost)" (1990 - 1993, 500 given to Greece, rest to Sweden and Finland)
- 91 Mi-8 "Hip“ helicopters (1990 - 1997)
- 70 Mi-24 "Hind“ attack helicopters (1990 - 1994, given to Poland)
- 24 MiG-29 "Fulcrum" fighters (1990 - 2004, given to Poland)
- 12 LET-410S light cargo planes (1990 - 2000)
- 12 Antonow An-26 light cargo planes (1990 - 1994)
The german Coast Guard received three Sassnitz class S-Boats from the Volksmarine, still in service as far as I know.
The bulk of the NVA equipment was scrapped, the rest given to NATO partners or sold to third parties.
regards
Helmut

Re: Bundesheer use of NVA equipment
The Bundeswehr used Strela-2 MPADS until very recently (these things have a limited shelf life) in the training of Stinger operators. Firing live missiles is quite expensive and the Bundeswehr judged that the Strelas were close enough that they could be used as substitutes for the first live shot of new operators.
The NVA had one of only a handful of KRTP-86 TAMARA "Trash Can" passive radar systems, the BW operated that until 2010. At least parts of it are now in the Luftwaffe museum in Gatow.
Until 2002 the Bundeswehr operated the radar/fire control parts (i.e. without launchers and missiles) of a handful of SA-8 "Gecko" and SA-6 "Gainful" systems in the aggressor role for training.
One of the TU-154M of the NVA was equipped by the Bundeswehr as the German 'Open Skies' observer aircraft. It crashed with a USAF C-141 over the Atlantic in 1997. The second one was sold to a Bulgarian airline.
Until ~2005 the AK bayonets were used as fighting knives in the infantry. They were sold on the private market after that.
