The official AHF NVA & GDR quiz thread

We've had several different quizes running here in the forum for a while with great success and this new section has been open for a while without one, so I'm starting one here too.

The rules are very simple:
The first one to post the correct answer to a question, posts a new question (must be on the Nationale Volksarmee or other aspects of the German Democratic Republic) and so on.

A question to get the thread started:
Which non-NVA unit provided honor guard for ceremonial occasions in Berlin?

Gentlemen,

this interests me also very much! The guard- regiment (Wachregiment " Friedrich Engels ") which ordinarily providet the honorary guard was NVA. The "other" guard-regiment "Feliks Edmundowitsch Dzierzynski" normally providet no honorary guard for ceremonious opportunities. Maybe you mean the "Volksmarine"-Kompanie as a part of the Ehrenformation"?

AR-11,

The non-NVA formation you mentioned was what I had in mind. It's your turn to post a question.

Okay.
Here is my question:

How many days of vacation got a "NVA-private" (Soldat im Grundwehrdienst) during his 18 month of service?

Hello Dirk,

I'm still trying to recover from the shock of learning that the Wachregiment Friedrich Engels, which took over from the NVA Wachregiment in 1980 (In Berlin) is not NVA. :|

About that Conscript Soldier's Leave time - I'm going to guess (Cause I really don't know) 7 days.

Tschuess,

Michael

If you are referring to my post, the correct answer was Wachregiment Feliks Dzierzynski of Stasi, not that NVA unit.

Excuse me Michael,
our soldiers really did not receive a lot of vacation. But 7 days are too little....

I want to give a small tip: the basic weir service lasted 18 months...

Okay,

I've picked myself up off the floor and to some degree have now recovered. :)

I'll give this another shot. They were given 21 days leave?

This is already very close in it, Michael.

I´ll give a new tip: The number of the vacation days is divideable by the "military-service-months" wihout any rest.

Hi Iannima,

For certain you have hit the nail on the "Proverbial" head.

If as I suspect, you are correct, I look forward in the very near future, to your post and new contribution. :D
