Hi all,

Schnellboot

Can somebody identify the exact type?
I think Schnellboot M1934 (S14-17)

It's either a Schnellboot M1934 or a Schnellboot M1937(S18-S25). Shame the German censor has eradicated any vestige of the boat's identity. Some photos show this boat as S19, but the "9" appears to have been "painted".

An example: Image from http://www.freundeskreis-schnellboote-k ... /krieg.htm

Shows the boat with the retouched 19.

So, I would not take it as "gospel", that this S-Boat is actually S19.

Nobody for my last images??

Well, I found this image on EBay. I think the first ship is a Deutschland-Class battleship, followed by more battleships.
I think it is a post WW1 image (only two chimneys) but I think Germany only had two of these battleships during 1920s-30s. :?

Any idea??

Both drawings are copies from the excellent book "Z-vor! - Internationale Entwicklung und Kriegseinsätze von Zerstörern und Torpedobooten im Zweiten Weltkrieg 1940 - 1945" (pages 41 and 42). They show the destroyers PAUL JACOBI (type 34) resp. KARL GALSTER (type 36) in her late war time configuration (1944/45).

Hello Peter K.,
Yes,
Primary source is Z-vor, but is easy to observe that is redrawings, and look a little better than originals :D !

I believe that vladalex is incorrect as to the identification of the second Zerstorer photograph.

It is usually identified as Z28 a Type 1936A
http://www.bismarck-class.dk/german_destroyers/z28.html
http://www.germanpostalhistory.com/php/ ... ver=search&

The "square-cut" break from the raised forecastle/fo'c'sle to the lower quarterdeck makes this zerstorer a bit of an "odd duck" amongst the German destroyers - since most usually had a rounded-cut here.

As to the "battleship parade", these are most of the pre-dreadnoughts retained by Germany under the Versailles Treaty. The lead ship is either the Schleswig Holstein or Schlesien, as the Hannover retained her three funnel arrangement.

Edit, the photograph is most likely from the late 1920's, say, 1927-29.

Yes Takao, you are right.
The destroyer in the picture has no radar antena after the second funel, degauss line at the specific height, no 2 x quadruple 20mm AA on the backward platform and most important : had no 4 x 12,7 SKC/34.
The destroyer is Z28, type 1936A with 4 x 15 cm SK. C/36.
Thank you for observing big error.
I post 2 drawings in response for you. Source : Personal drawings
