Any surface ship/boat sorties against Anzio or Salerno?

Where there any Axis surface ship sorties against these beachheads?

AFAICT, no sortie by anything bigger than a MTB.

During Salerno, the Regia Marina was in the process of surrender.

Regarding Anzio, I'm more speaking from memory, and thus I may well be mistaken. But given the relative strengths of the German naval forces in the Med vs the Allied forces, anything but harassing raids by MTB would have been suicidal.

Thank you. I was not sure if anything similar to the 5th Torpedoboat Flotilla sortie against Normandy occurred.

I thought Anzio was a bit of shoestring operation by the Allies and do not know how much naval forces were provided. Appears nothing heavier than a light cruiser with many DDs and DEs.

The only attacks on Anzio were by RSI two man MTBs. An account of this in Italian can be found in "Decima MAS Nostra"
