Definitely looking at a early-war or WW1-converted Ship there, that's all i could really say.

Those 3 officers look like Luftwaffe, not Kriegsmarine.

Has WW2 German 'War-Flag' (x3) i presume on it. Time frame i can't be so sure, looks like Early-Early war, even pre-war perhaps. Shame no-ones in M36 or M40 tunic/helmet/gear e.t.c, would help to narrow down your time frame.

Sorry if it isn't any help, though i'm sure it'll help in some way to narrow down it's time-frame, and what name it can be. Could look at any nearby Luftwaffe bases/stations nearby where those ships were docked, other than that i'm unsure too!

The photo was probably taken in Wilhelmshaven in 1935 or 1936. The ship is a Linienschiff of the Deutschland class, but is it Schlesien or Schleswig-Holstein?

Hello askropp,

one picture says more than thousand words. Imho your photo shows the Schleswig-Holstein. I think the bright spot on the bow could be the coat of arms of the German province of Schleswig-Holstein.

Greetings,
Schorschl

hi,

and Schorschl´s ID is substantiated by the fact that there are two searchlight platforms on the forward tower mast.
