Re: Again, many ships ID please
Thank you everyone for helping out with the IDs, hopefully the rest of them could come out soon too! I have found another one: the ship in the Med.sea which is speculated to be either German minelayer or Italian AMC, is in fact minelayer Brandenburg, source is http://www.toscanalibri.it/dettagli_gal ... hp?ID=1435
This link also includes a picture of another minelayer Pommern.
I am trying to attach as many sources as possible. However given that I saved thousands of WW2 pictures in my computer, it is impossible to remember all of them. Since I am not using these pictures for economic purposes, I hope this would not pose a serious issue. Again, I will attach as many sources as possible.

Re: Again, many ships ID please
Found another unknown ship, photo purportedly taken in Narvik. My guess is it was one of the two Trygg-class torpedo boats captured by Germans: Zick or Zack. The original Trygg-class had two funnels, the one in pic had one, so it could have been rebuilt totally. The bridge matches the Trygg-class, as does the size. What do you think?
PS: if it was indeed Zick or Zack, given the missing of TTs, I think this photo was taken when it was already converted into patrol boat(vorpostenboot).
PS2: the source of the picture is a Polish or Czech forum, but unfortunately I can not find it again on the internet.

and here's another unidentified ship, source: http://www.festningsverk.no/Horten7.htm
Re: Again, many ships ID please
bertamingo, if you wouldn't swamp us with pictures in one thread it would be easier to see which pictures aren't identified yet.
A(9) is "UJ 2216" ex yacht "Eros"
A(7) is "Sofia" used as barracksship, her engines were used for the "Hela", so there is a relation between the two ships
55 = "Potsdam"
56 = "Alsterufer" during her meeting with "Admiral Scheer" in March 1941
58 = "Taronga", unique with the silhouettes of ships painted on her side
60 = "Côte d'Argent" before she was rebuilt as minelayer ("Versailles" had two funnels!)
20 = "Ile d'Aix" at St. Malo
23 = "Ampère"
24 = dredger "Pas de Calais II" used at St. Nazaire
14 = "Yang-Tsé"
VG-Ostseeschiffahrtsarchiv is the collection of Reinhard Kramer

Re: Again, many ships ID please
Thanks a lot for so many IDs, really wonderful! I am sorry for not making the post clear enough, actually even myself is kind of lost in these pictures. So, I have decided to start a new thread.
For the ships you helped with, may I know a bit more on:
55 Potsdam, how to tell her from the sister ship Gneisennau, what's the difference?
20 Ile d'Aix, I can not find anything on her, what's her history and role in Km?
24 was the dredger a KM auxiliary ship or just a French civilian ship working in the habor?

Re: Again, many ships ID please
1919, 5028 grt, belongs to Compagnie Générale Transatlantique. Has designation H 8 for Seelowe operation, then Kanalinselnversorger, in 1943 Krupp, Bremen, there sunk 13.12.43 by bombs, but raised in 1944. 1945 returned to owner, 1953 (or 1951?) broken up.bertamingo wrote: 20 Ile d'Aix, I can not find anything on her, what's her history and role in Km?
Re: Again, many ships ID please
"Potsdam"/"Gneisenau": best spotting feature is the form of the funnel, furthermore "Potsdam" had no kingposts, but small cranes only.
"Ile d'Aix" is sometimes listed as "Lafcomo", her old American name, which might have been still visible when she was seized in 1940.
The "Pas de Calais II" is listed as operated for the Kriegsmarinewerft St. Nazaire, so I think it was a KM auxiliary, even if the crew might have been mainly French.
